Commonwealth Chess Championship 2024

The Commonwealth Chess Championship 2024 is scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 5, 2024. This prestigious event is organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka on behalf of the Commonwealth Chess Association and FIDE. The championship will feature an open competition and youth championships in various age categories: under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18, with separate events for open and girls’ categories.

The championship will encompass standard, rapid, and blitz formats, offering a comprehensive test of players’ skills. A total of 228 players from five federations are set to compete, including 13 Grandmasters (GMs), 2 Women’s Grandmasters (WGMs), 7 International Masters (IMs), 3 Women’s International Masters (WIMs), 4 FIDE Masters (FMs), and 2 Women’s FIDE Masters (WFMs). The Sri Lankan contingent boasts the highest participation, with 152 players representing the host nation.

This championship promises to be a highly competitive and exciting event, showcasing some of the best chess talent from the Commonwealth nations.
