Queen’s Squad Chess Club Triumphs at Sri Lanka National Women’s Blitz Team Chess Championship 2024.

The Sri Lanka National Women’s Blitz Team Chess Championship 2024 saw a dominant performance by Queen’s Squad Chess Club, who claimed the title in an impressive fashion. The championship, held on November 17, 2024, at Sasthrananda Vidyalaya, Dehiwala, was organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka. The winners received a prize fund of Rs 53,000, along with medals, certificates, and trophies.

The tournament featured 26 teams and followed a 7-round Swiss format, with a fast-paced time control of 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move. Queen’s Squad Chess Club showcased exceptional skill and consistency, emerging undefeated and securing the championship with a perfect score of 14 out of 14 match points.

Passed Pawn White Chess Club finished as the first runners-up, scoring 11 match points. The fight for the second runner-up position saw a tie at 10 match points between the two teams, with Maroons Chess Club edging out on tie-break criteria.
