Sokians Chess Club and Passed Pawn Chess Club Win Top Titles at the Sri Lanka National Blitz Team Chess Championships 2025.
The Sri Lanka National Blitz Team Chess Championships 2025 was held on 27th April 2025 at Sir John Kothalawala Vidyalaya, Piliyandala. The event was organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka and featured both Open and Women’s categories. The championships followed a seven-round Swiss team format with a blitz time control of 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move from the first move.
In the Open Championship, 75 teams participated in a highly competitive field. Sokians Chess Club emerged as the champions, scoring 12 out of 14 match points. Three teams tied with the same score, but Sokians Chess Club secured the championship title through superior tie-breaks. Black and Gold Chess Club and Chess Spetsnaz finished as the first and second runners-up respectively.

In the Women’s Championship, 16 teams competed for the title. Passed Pawn Chess Club claimed the championship with an impressive 13 out of 14 match points. Queen’s Pride Chess Team secured the first runner-up position with 12 match points, while Queenstar Queens Chess Club earned the second runner-up position with 10 match points.
